Warm Hearth Village Again Honored in “Best of Virginia” Awards

May 18, 2026

Warm Hearth Village (WHV) has once again been recognized as a regional leader in senior living and community services, earning top placements in Virginia Living Magazine’s annual Best of Virginia awards for the Southwest Region. The 2026 issue highlights standout businesses and organizations across the Commonwealth. Founded in 2012, the Best of Virginia awards have become one of the state’s most trusted measures of community excellence. Winning organizations are selected solely by public vote, making the recognition a direct reflection of community trust and satisfaction.

In her Editor’s Letter, Editor-in-Chief Madeline Mayhood said this event draws hundreds of thousands of votes and celebrates the businesses that make this Commonwealth truly extraordinary. This year included 112 categories from burger joints to distilleries to architecture firms and children’s stores.

Warm Hearth Village earned honors in four categories this year:

First Place

  • Assisted Living Community
  • Home Health Provider — Warm Hearth at Home
  • Independent Living Retirement Community

Second Place

  • Thrift or Consignment Shop — Treasure Trove Thrift Store

This recognition highlights WHV’s continued commitment to providing high‑quality care, meaningful lifestyle options, and community‑centered services for older adults in the New River Valley. The awards also underscore the strength of WHV’s nonprofit mission, which has served the region for nearly 50 years.

Warm Hearth’s President & CEO William Lester said, “These awards are a reflection of the heart and dedication of our team, who show up every day committed to serving older adults with dignity, compassion, and respect. They also speak to the trust our residents, families, volunteers, and supporters place in us, something we never take for granted.  I am incredibly proud of our staff, grateful to our community, and honored to lead an organization that continues to make a positive difference in the lives of so many.”
