The Warm Hearth Foundation is proud to announce that its 13th annual Cheeseburger in Parrot-Dise was a tremendous success, raising $86,000 to support its mission to advocate, innovate and care for seniors in our community.
What began as a fun-filled summer tradition once again brought together neighbors, local businesses, volunteers and supporters for an evening of great food, friendly competition and heartfelt generosity. Thanks to the loyal support of donors, sponsors and community members, this year’s event was the most successful yet.
A highlight of the evening was the popular cheeseburger throwdown competition, featuring four outstanding local restaurants: The Huckleberry Café, Lost in Taste, The Happy Hog and 3 Brothers BBQ. The competition was fierce, but in the end, The Huckleberry Café earned bragging rights, taking home the trophy and the coveted title of “Best Burger in the Burgs.” Their award-winning burger will be on the menu for the next year and all are invited to come to the Village Center to give it a try. The Foundation congratulates the winning team and extends its gratitude to all participating restaurants for generously donating their time, talent and culinary creativity.
Chelsea Keating, Associate Director of Community Engagement, coordinated the event for the first time. “I was absolutely inspired by the energy and effort the dedicated staff and local community put into making this event such an incredible experience. Cheeseburger in Parrot-Dise represents so many facets of the Foundation’s overall goal and philosophy: bring together our local community and residents in a positive, energetic way to continually grow the mission to help seniors in need. To be surrounded by so many people throughout the New River Valley who are celebrating their passion for such an important cause is truly inspiring. We are deeply grateful to everyone who helped make this event such a memorable and impactful evening.”
The success of Cheeseburger in Parrot-Dise reflects the remarkable spirit of generosity that defines the New River Valley. This year’s event was made possible by the support of 31 local sponsors, 36 dedicated volunteers, countless donations from local businesses and community members, and more than 300 attendees who came together to celebrate and support a meaningful cause.
