Warm Hearth Village Introduces New Fitness Director

Warm Hearth Village (WHV) is pleased to introduce Marcus Burks as the new Fitness Director. Burks, an American Council on Exercise Senior Fitness Specialist, has been a Fitness Assistant on the team since July 2020 working as a personal trainer and class instructor for WHV seniors and those in the greater community. In addition to leading Fit 4 Life, and Posture, Balance, & Gait, Burks is a certified Rock Steady Boxing (RSB) Coach. RSB is specifically designed to improve physical skills for those battling Parkinson’s Disease. He has also achieved Levels 1 and 2 in Box ‘N Burn through the Boxing Fitness Academy.

Burks, has a B.S. in health and human performance from Radford University and has been leading village residents and fitness members through jumping, squatting, lunging, and other drills targeted to relieve the symptoms of Parkinson’s. When asked about his goals in his new position he said, “I am grateful for the opportunity, my long-term goal in college was to be a Fitness Director one day. I have been preparing myself for an opportunity like this for years. We’ve established a great new team, and I plan to keep changing lives and bringing smiles to peoples’ faces. Folks at Warm Hearth have always been very supportive and I am grateful to get to do what I love here, with the people I love to serve.”

Burks lives in Pulaski where he runs his own podcast on combat sports in his spare time. He also enjoys boxing, playing basketball, and watching NASCAR.
